Idle RPM when warm on 08 Limited

HI,

Anyone know what the idle speed RPM is supposed to be on a warmed up 08 highlander limited with v6 2GRFE?

Mine is at 650 RPM when warmed up at idle and I am getting vibration in the seat and steering wheel. Seems quite low to me.

Not sure if this is dealer related when they gutted my engine for the VVTi TSB

Thanks
Greg

Mine idles around the same. Not sure if it will help you, but I did notice the RPM's jump a hair when I replaced the air filter

Thanks for your input. I replaced my air filter with a K&N also but it was like this before I did. The air filter did not change anything.

I would like to know what the official idle RPM spec should be when the engine is warm because if it is too low, then there is a problem that needs addressing. I do notice that when I slowly press on the pedal to slightly increase the rpm's, the vibration smooths out so I am wondering if this a computer issue, or an idle air controller issue or what.

I had a K&N in my Honda and noticed the throttle body had to be cleaned more often. It is also possible that you have a loose leaking vacuum hose

I literally just put the filter in and the 1 I took out was not even dirty and the same problem existed before and after the swap so it's not the filter. As far as the vacuum hose goes, I thought about that and checked over the whole engine compartment and could not find any loose or damaged hoses. I was thinking that if there was a vacuum leak, then it would set off the check engine light, but my light is NOT on.

Has to be something related to the work the dealer did...TWICE because I never had this problem before they touched it

650 to 750 or so--higher with AC on or high electrical loads. If you are getting vibration in drive or reverse then the radiator side hydraulic engine mount may not be working. Check vacuum hoses feeding it first.

WOW, Thanks for that lead. I didn't know that the engine mount was vacuum controlled. Would a loose or disconnected vacuum hose there cause the check engine light to go on?

How do I access this....from above or below and is it right behind the grill?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

You can see the engine mount between the radiator and engine block, towards the bottom of the engine bay. A flashlight should give you a good view of vacuum hoses. Trace them up to the top of the engine where they join up with other hoses and valves.

EDIT: I can't see how an MIL would get set for the engine mount, but it might get set if a shared vacuum hose was preventing say purge from happening.

I believe the timing belt is removed for the full Monty VVti service bulletin. It's possible that one of the cam timing is mechanically incorrect, which would make it idle badly, among other ills. Don't know whether the ECU can detect say one tooth off for one of the cams; i.e. an MIL code may or may not get set for something like that, but it's worth getting the code read.
