rear Lift gate winter problem.

Good day,

I have a 2009 Sport Highlander since last summer so this is my first winter with it. But I already had to bring it into the garage 3 times so far in order to melt the ice ans snow that was stopping the rear gate from fully opening. The snow get behind the lift gate where the hinges are and when the door goes up the upper spoiler pushes on that compacted snow and stops it from fully oepning. Did any of you that drive their HL during the winter have ever encountered this issue? How did you solved it? I saw on an Ford Edge last week that Ford installed a rubber strip on the gate that cover that opening from the body to the gate and stops the snow from getting in there but the space on the HL is really limited and I don't really want to fit Ford part on my Toyota. LOL LOL...

I don't have that problem, if there's snow on the roof I either brush it off or I just push the lift gate up.. I have a problem with dirt, the Highlander seems to suck everything to the back and let it stick there.. my back-up camera is rendered useless in the winter LOL
