Tire thread difference - will it mess up the AWD system
So I have about 12,500 miles on my Hy2011 with factory Toyo tires.
Had a hole plugged 3 months ago on 1 tire. That one tire got another nail the other day and the tire shop said they can't patch this one because it's too close to the other patch.
Anyhow, for now, the spare is on and is brand new, while the other three have 12,500 miles on them. Should I buy 4 new tires or will that new spare be ok with the other 3 used tires?
Or do I shave that spare to the same thread as the other 3?
The guys didn't say. On the sheet they gave me, it said "next to." I guess I'll go find myself a new/used tire for the spare. The stock tires on my 11 Limited V6 AWD haven't had much issues with quick wear. I'll probably change all 4 when these Toyo tires die. I am considering the Bridgestone ecopia 422 (via Costco for ~$250/tire tax and mounting included) or the Yokohama yk580 ($268/tire, tax and mounting included).
I thought the Ecopia doesn't come in the 2011 limited 19" size??
Edit:
I found them on the bridgestone site. They are listed under Dueler H/L ecopia 422. They were not showing up under just ecopia.
Apparently Costco US only has the Dueler 400 and the Ecopia 422. Discount Tires has a few other brands including the Michelin Assurance and the Yokohama's. So the tread on the spare was 10/32 while the other tires were 9/32. I'm just gonna use the spare with the other 3. Went to a used tire place to grab a tire for the spare. They had a bunch of used Bridgestone and 1 Toyo Open Country brand new. I thought what the hell, may as well buy the Toyo brand new (price difference was only $30). Went home, got all tires up to 35psi, and double checked all the tires. Good to go.

I agree with your decision, I would have done the same thing.

PLEASE HELP!!!
I would have left spare tire new but replaced the bad one at the used tire place. I would find the same tread and upproximate wear good brand like Toyo, Michelin, Yokohama or Continental with the same performance category. That could cost about $60.00
Never go with Bridgestone Dueler H/L 400 (originally installed on 2012 HL) Check tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults then click on Highway All-Season
I had this come up with one flat on a sidewall. All others were 7/32nd tread and I called toyota dealership service and they said that as long i was within 3/32nd tread i was fine. I went back and forth since the full size spare was a new 10/32nd tread and just ordered another brand new toyo so the rears matched up at 10/32nd.
I will take the word from the dealership and tire guys that I will be fine going forward. The dealership said i would have been fine just using the new spare and other rear at 7/32nd if its what i wanted to do but i opted to run same tread on same axle.
