Question Programming Homelink Buttons?

How do you program the two outside Homelink buttons? I have a 2011 Highlander Limited, and have been able to program only the center button for the garage door opener. The two outside buttons will not accept programming according to the User Manual procedure. I'd like to program the two outside buttons for the same door opener because it's difficult to find the center button in the dark while driving. It would be easier if all three buttons were programmed alike. Thanks

My experience with two different cars is you cannot program more than one button for the same device. It's nothing to do with Toyota but Homelink in general.

What I did to aid finding the button in the dark was to buy some kind of adhesive 'stick on' and put in on the button. Just about anything you can feel will work - I'm currently using half of a circular velcro tab.

Well, if you're constantly hitting the left button first with your fingers, why not just program that one instead? Just clear out all the programming and then program the left one.

Just a reminder for anyone that has the homelink feature that plans to sell or trade in their vehicle, don't forget to clear out all the programming beforehand.

Clear = Holding the left and right buttons together for about 30 seconds until the indicator light flashes.

Also the way Toyota implements Homelink it is live all of the time (even when the ignition system is off).

If you park your HL outside your garage and it is programmed to your door opener it is one of the ways break in bad guys use to gain entry to your home.

Also an interesting video on how easy it is to release the garage door from the track with a coat hanger.
