Gen 6 doesnt sound very DIY friendly

Your oil filter is a cartridge type, not a normal cannister. You must go beneath the car to see it hanging down right by the oil pan. You have to take the housing off to get to the cartridge. As for the trans, I believe you have one of the new sealed transmissions which means no dipstick. A quick look in your owners manual will fill you in on both these concerns.
