Now a Former 4 Runner owner

Hi,
I became a former Toyota owner today.I sold my 1995 four runner because it was not worth having the head gasket fixed.I had to practically give a pretty nice truck away.
I want to replace it with a newer four runner but my concern is the head gasket.Did Toyota really get their head gasket issues corrected by mid-1995?I talked to some mechanics who say there was still problems in the late 90s models. Was it just the3LV6 engine that had problems?
Thanks for any info,
Danny

Get a 4Runner with a 3.4L V6 in it and you will not have to worry about any headgasket issues. Any mechanic who says Toyota had headgasket issues into the late '90s is BSing you, it was an issue with the 3.0L V6.
Get a '97 or newer 4Runner and you will have no worries with failing headgaskets (not to mention all the power you will ever need).
