please help!!!! 89 truck problems

i have an 89 toyota truck, 3zve 5spd, took it into a puddle about 2 and a half feet deep and it instantaneously died. pulled the plugs on it, pulled the oil pan off to check rods, but cant find the problem. the motor seems seized up, but ive gotten my truck stuck in a pong past my windsheild and it ran with no problem while in it and afterwards until this puddle incident. please help, i dont want to have to buy a rebuilt block and i cant find a used 3vze anywhere local. i contemplated putting a 7mgte in it, but its too much work in winter conditions. any input would be greatly appreciated.

-brian

what about yer battery; see if you are even getting juice from it, if not, check the acid maybe it was diluted by water; then have it load tested- it can't be good to submerge your battery.

there is a danger that water went in your intake, or even more likely up your tailpipe and perhaps all the way into your exhaust ports, did the oil look all right when you took off the panpan?
your problem sounds electrical to me though- like something shorted out
do you even get juice when you turn the key?

I had an 85 Nissan truck that the computer died in and everything just stopped dead, and when I turned the key all I would get were a bunch of the dash lights coming on in a strange configuration. I couldn't do anything to make it go or even turn over and had to get it towed.

well, i drained the oil, looked diluted...so i thought it might be a head gasket and the pressure from the leak was causing it to lock up, but i dunno. totally ripped out the air intake, and looked like dirt/grease/oil was in it, there was a small amt in the throttle body and a decent amoutn in the elbow on the intake. ripped off the oil pan to ceck the rods to make sure a rod didnt go through the block, it was ok, cheked the distributor, the battery. all it does when u try to turn it over- the solinoid in the started kicks but thats it. notihng else. i think im gonna give up and just sell it. cant afford to do the 7mgte swap right now. need another vehicle bad.

I would really check the battery, a weak battery or bad connection will only give you enough juice to get a noise from the starter solenoid, or you could have easily fried the solenoid itself, since it is down low and probably would have been submerged.

Also, put a big wrench or socket and breaker bar on your Crankshaft pulley center nut and see if you can turn the engine by hand (clockwise). I doubt though that the engine is seized unless you let it sit for a long time with water in the cylinders.

try to manual start it.. and when you get it to turn over.. let it sit (running) and when it drops the low idle.. take it for a drive.. if you decide to sell it let me know..
