First Toyota 4X4

Early in 1979 Toyota introduced their first 4X4 pickup. One was sent to each dealer, 1089 at that time. They were "Limited Edition" models, all with, among other things, a serialized dash plaque. I have, and have been driving since new, #237 of 1089 made. Have not seen but one other since then. Have been searching for YEARS for another. Anyone here have any information? Dave

I believe it would be the Trekker, these are 2 Trekker based discussion sites which show that there were around 1200-1300 made:

well here in Canada anyway ... the Trekker was not out till , /82 ... in /81 they had a "trailblazer" ... and thats it .

/79 was the introduction of toy pickup 4x4's in North America . 81 was the first I know of with the silver painted edition (the name eludes me at the moment ) with # plates ... then in 82-83 came the majove edition with # plates ... I wouled be VERY surprised to learn of a new modle , being I was there ... at the dealer leval , when this all took place .

Please post pics .
