Engine Noise

I have a 1996 Tacoma Regular Cab 2wd and everytime i hit the gas and the engine goes over 2300RPM it makes a noise like the accessory belt is slipping. Its only after 2300RPM though. Its a 2.4L 5 spd. Any ideas?

No vibration at least i don't think so. But it sounds like the accessory belt is slipping. If i pull the throttle body cable(engine bay) the opposite way it will stop the noise.

its your water pump then.....did you check the temp reading???.....if the fans stay on all the time...then ECT too hot....
if your engine was over heating, and if the fan didn't go off after key was turned off. then you better check your colling system...like water pump....

:o :o
hmmmmm.....
well....still take it to the shop....you dun really want to drive your car under normal temperature.

if you have A/C....maybe the clutch is rubbing against the shoe. and if your condensor fan was the one thats blowing...it could be your a/c system too

my guess are all wild at this point...take it to the shop and get it done properly...

Are your belts loose? Try tighten them.
