Thumbs up Redesigned Tacoma

After looking at the link that led me to Edmunds picture...it looks to me like the front end will look like the current 03 4Runner. But if that IS the real picture and it is gonna look like that..than I would never buy one until they come out with a different model...and I think the reason that guy did that photoshop thing with the 03 4Runner is to give you and idea of what it possibly could look like.

taco

we all say that we will never buy the new models because they dont look like what WE think they should look like... but i said that to the last model tacoma.. and the last, but i love them now and i think they look like a million bucks. i would take a 03 tacoma over any silverado or ram. maybe the 05 tacoma will turn out the same way..?

Valid point Trent...remember years ago when the first Ford Taurus came out in late 1985? Everyone said it looked like a space craft, but a year or so later...all the other manufacturers copied it. American's got used to the new designs very quickly. The older models quickly became dinosaurs and looked outdated.

I just want to know what engines are going to be available on the 05 tacoma...and how much are they going to weigh. That will be able to determine my decision on getting one or not.
The current tacoma 2.4 liter 16 valve (142 hp) has been around since 1995. I would assume it's time for a power upgrade. They should be able to tweak that same engine to at least 160-170 hp with vvi. Where's the S/C option? hehehe

tacoma

if that truck is actually the 05 tacoma, then so be it. but if they are making it according to the new 4runners, then it WILL weigh more. with the size/weight increase, i think that toyota will change from the 3.4 liter v6 to the new 4 runners 4 liter v6. i do however have a weird feeling that they will replace the 2wd tacoma's 2.4 liter 142 horse 4 cylinder with the 4wd/prerunner's 2.7 liter 150 horse 4 cylinder. i think that the 4 cylinders that will go in the next gen tacoma 4wd/prerunner will sport more displacement with more horsepower and torque. even the notorious HONDA is upping the displacement for their SI and soon to come Type R civics. displacement is no enemy to acheive power and EVERY car manufacturer company knows that.
