Canada Taco or Tundra, and what opts

Hey Toyota Truck Owners

My friend's Father is getting a raw deal by Dodge (who saw that coming) where his Engine requires replacement, its under warranty, and they're dicking him hard.

This guy is really nice, I don't think he's got a bad bone in his body (but who knows)

Anyways, the usage is for:
General Farming
Towing of Horses for Rodeo's & Shows
Daily Driver in Southern Ontario weather

hes currently in a Diesel but had a Gas engine prior, and he's also driven auto & manual.

I'm trying to sell him on Toyota and I've only spoken with his son but I'll be seeing him in a few days. Can you guys give some pros and cons I can give him over the Dodge POS?

I am unsure of the type, but it was a 2006 Ram with quadcab, I figure I'd tell you guys what I know and someone here should be able to tell me what I should recommend he looks at

Thanks a lot, keep on converting those domestic owners

As much as I hate to say it, I dont think that Toyota makes a big enough truck at this time for what he needs. He really needs a 3/4 ton truck for hauling horses.
For that, Id go with a Chevy or GMC 2500 with a Duramax diesel. At least the engine is Japanese.

I know, I know. Like I said, I know thats not what you wanna hear.
The current Tundra is a nice truck and the '07 looks to be even better, but at the end of the day they are still only 1/2 ton trucks. They just arent built for severe duty, such as hauling a horse trailer.

The new 07 Tundra with a 5.7L V8 shouldn''t have any problem towing his horses with 10,800 lb capacity (when it comes out).

I'm afraid I agree with Octane... 3/4 ton for his needs, is the way to go...

Chevy, though I'll dissagree and say 1/2 ton. Hell, unless we're talking Clydsdales my Tacoma (6500lbs towing cap) could probably pull two horses and a trailer with capacity to spare.... though I'd rather use a 1/2 ton if I had to do it regularily.

My step-dad used to pull two horses behind various years of Chevy 1/2 tons... just make sure you opt for the towing packages for the tranny coolers and reciever hitch.

How many horses at one time? 2 wouldn't be a big deal.
