ignition stuck

hey guys, my fiancee' has a 1999 chevy malibu... I know, I know, it's not a toyota, but she is very stuck, and I'm in another town and can't help her. problem is, she can't turn her ignition. can't even turn it to accessory, it's stuck in the off position. She only has spare keys, 'cause she lost the original, but got a key cut directly from a chevy dealer, and still didn't work. Any ideas on this would be awesome. And I'll be sure to make sure her next vehicle is a toyota. thanks

Tell her to shake the steering wheel from side to side as she's trying to start the car, see if that works.

i told her to try that, but she said that the steering wheel isn't locked....
