Blown headgasket

I have a 98 Tacoma 4-cyl with what appears to be a blown HG. I had the thermostat replaced just over a year ago and figured that the current overheating was due to another bad thermostat. Apperantly not. I did not let the engin run too hot I thought.

Anyway the engin only has 82K mi on it. Does anyone out there have any insite on weather or not this is a common problem with this engine?

Was there a recall that I can take advantage of?

Thanks...

pb

Smile i lost water in my engine

i have a 84 with a 22re and the water just started to disappear. it wasnt leaking anywhere and was driving me crazy.i did a compression check and the last cylinder was a lot lower than the others and the porcelan on the plug was real white. The head gasket was alowing the coolant to burn off in the last cylinder!!I could see where it was leaking when i took off the head gasket.
