After the motor has been running and then shut it off for about 5-10 mins and then turn it back over it is really hesitent. I have heard that this could be caused by a faulty injector that is stuck open and floods the cylinder. what are your guys opinions on the matter and has anyone else had this problem?
The check engine light comes on and off at random times and usually around the same time the idle get really rough going up and down and up and down. I originally wrote that off as a problem with my K&N drop in filter. Someone told me it was the filters oil that was sticking to the sensor that measures the air flow (sorry dont know the name) right after the filter and to just use electronic cleaner to clean it off.
should i just go get a motorvac done? I'm near my 60k but I dont know that I want to spend $300 on that right now.

I think you are referring the the MAF (maximum air flow).
However, it is very easy to clean the injectors yourself. I do this about once a year on my jeep. Just get in there and remove the bolts that hold on the fuel rail (that all the injectors are attached to). Any excess gas in the rail might leak out...but no biggie. Pull out the injectors slowly...be careful...they have o-rings on them that need to stay in good condition. I usually spray off the injector tips with some carb cleaner until all the build-up is gone. Then I spray the part of the block that they fit into with some carb cleaner as well...until all the gunk is gone. Then, just before you reinstall the injectors....lube the o-rings. I use Vaseline. Just use a little. Reinstall everything and you are set.
Dont use that crap from a bottle....it doesnt work. -----> See
Good Luck!

Just to let all of you know it did in fact turn out to be the K&N drop in filter that was causing these issues. Soon as I returned it to stock the motor is completely normal with no hard warm starts, check engine light is off and hasnt came back on, and idles smoothly.
VERY sorry to learn that the K&N filter wasn't the problem.
Warm-weather warm-engine hard re-start is chronic in my 96 Tacoma; mechanics over the years I've had this problem have thrown everything at it and not solved it. No engine light, just the hard re-starts. Clean injectors, good compression, wires fine, everything apparently in order.

Please post if you learn anything.

Will do, I'm just going to wait for the 60k service which is about 3500 miles away. I have no money to fix this crap now so it's going to have to be toyota tough til then. 3500 should fly by in about a month and a half. I'll let ya know.
Have you checked your coolant temp sensor ( the one that sends the temp info to the computer?. Whenever is not stating when is warm, disconect the temp sensor and try to turn on the car. if you get your car running, reconnect the temp sensor and if it stalls, ther you go. good luck
happy to report that it turns out it was my K&N filter causing my problem. soon as i put my stockie back in and then reset the ecu the light hasnt come back on and its been at least 3 months.
