Question Your Call - Who Did it?

One year ago and two months ago - we had our local dealer installed a new clutch in our 1997 SR5 4WD 4Runner.

Last Monday night - while backing in 4-Wheel drive, the front drive-line seperated from the front differential and there was only one bolt left holding it in place. The three other bolts - were no place to be found at the "event site". The "event site" was clearly marked by clutch and power steering fluid that erupted when the drive-line broke those two hydraulic services. I presume the three other bolts must have come lose in between the time we had our clutch serviced and last Monday night.

So - what is your opinion - The obvious question - did the dealer have anything do do with this when they replaced the clutch?

Should I be getting ready to file a complaint and asking for the dealer to pay for the entire repair and more?

Is this a common failure and something that just happens with mechanical equipment?

Thanks for your comments and opinions,

Take it back to them. Those bolts should get some locktite when they are removed and reinstalled. Tell them to fix their mistake.

When properly torqued, those bolts shouldn't have come loose! Definitely take it back and make them fix their bad work!
