'91 2wd truck automatic transmission woes

HI all!

I have a transmission questoin or two for you...

Just got this truck...changed out all the fluids....the transmission fluid was WAY OVER FILLED.....is that a trick to "quick fix" a problem??
I put in the proper amount of fluid and strange things have been happening..
when I put it in "D" and hit the gas, there is a second or two of hesitiation before it will go.
Today, I got in it cold and put it in "D" and tried to drive it up my driveway and it would NOT go for like 5 seconds...it took me three tries to get it to MOVE!!!

Does this typically mean and ENTIRE new tranny OR could there be internal parts worn, that could be replaced??

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm freaking out!!!
~Christy

Are you sure you were filling through the proper hole? Most transmissions have a drain hole and a fill hole (which is the higher of the two)....

The fill hole in this case should be the place where the dipstick goes in.

I would check the level of the fluid again. Did you check it with the transmission hot, the engine running and did you cycle through all the gears first?

BTW, Christy, you have a PM.
