How to break-in new SUV?

Greetings:

I am wondering if there are any precaution to be aware of in break-in period for a 4Runner Sport V6 Edition. Is it better to drive in city where the car will upshift and downshift regularly or to drive in highway?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

just like any new engine, don't want to run at any one speed for too long for first 600-1000 miles

normal driving habits should be sufficient - just don't take it on a long trip

and don't forget to engage 4WD now and then- break in those hubs

I think every new vehicle should be rolled on a trail before they are good to go.....

you guys are hilarious.

"....any one speed for too long for first 600-1000 miles...."

What is consider to be long 30min, 1Hour, etc?

Forgive my ignorance, does this mean I have to shift between D, 3, 2, L times to times?

Where I live, most of the road are highway. So it is impossible for me not to maintain the same speed (65mph) for at least 30min to 1h driving. The rpm doesn't vary much between 50 ~ 65mph. So the automatic transmission doesn't shift often.

To tell you the truth......I have never followed those "guidelines".....just make sure to change the fluids regularly and you should be fine.

PS......I think what they mean is not 65 consistantly.....your speed will change with traffic.
