is there a swap kit for a small block into a pickup? I know there is one for V6 4x4 but is there one for 4cyl 2wd?

If it's a 2wd, get the driveshft adapted, what kinda swap kit you need? The reason they make'm for 4x4 is so you can use your 4x4 trans which is much cheaper for a 4x4.

I am just looking for motor mounts and tranny x-member. it is getting next to impossible to find good parts here for the 22r. I also know more on a small-block!! The drive shaft won't be a problem, just the motor mounts and such. Thanks

Personally, if I was going to put a GM engine in, I'd use a 4.3 V6. Much lighter than a V8 and it won't be such a tire frier. Not to mention you'd still have some stopping power. If pure power is what you seek, use a MoPar 383. That's the smallest big block made with the highest potential. However that would require many modifications to make the TRUCK able to handle the torque.
I was looking into putting a MoPar 383 in my Trekkor, bought the trans/transfer case and several hi-po parts. But the back half of a Trekkor is all fiberglass, therefore unable to accept that kind of power.
MoPar big blocks can be mounted with "elephant ears" very similar to chevy water pump mounting plates.

well I went with a 305. its got good torque and hp but not too much. I think I am gonna just replace motor & tranny all in one big job. I have a friend who is going to make the mounts for me after I mock the block up. Thanks for the Ideas

Thumbs up swapping

I also looked into swapping a v-8 into my 85 pickup. The best source i found for this was Northwest offroad Specialties. They carry all the stuff you would need to swap a GM or Ford into your truck. I decided not to swap and just rebuild my 22r, and replace the stock crank with a stroker crank and hi-torque flywheel. This will give me the extra power and torque that i will need to climb hills and keep up on the highway with my oversize tires. In the long run it is cheaper to stroke and rebuild the more reliable toyota motor and keep your lower fuel consumption. However if you are looking at making some serious power, then going with the V-8 will probably be your best option. You can always turbo your 4 cyl. if you have fuel injection. Good luck.
