1980s truck questions

hello all

my first post.

anyhow, i'm after a toyota truck. i've had one ('85) but now that i'm searching for specific reasons it seems like some resarch would assure the best results.

ideally i'd like a 4x4 but since i'm going to be using to haul building materials i'm not sure about it being able to take it. should i be looking for the one ton model?

also, where would one look to make sure all VINs coincide? i know there's one in the engine bay and another on the door. any other places?

thanks!

little a

The vin should also be listed on the dash. Look through the outside on the drivers side.........through the windshield.

What diff does it make if the vin matches? It's a 20 year old p/u man, not an 02 lexus. And what kind of building materials are you talking? Tools and minor stuff sure, but it's not the best idea for say concrete blocks. 4X4Yotas were built for running through swamps, mountains, through rivers, and make their own path through trees. And they'll do a nice job of flattening buicks, trust me on that one....
