22r intermittent near stall at idle

Hi all,

My 93 22r 4x4 with 5 speed manual runs great except for the following.

It normally idles about 1200 rpm. That seems high to me but it doesn't feel or sound like its racing so I haven't bothered to set it down.

Just lately I get a big slow down to 600-700 rpmjust after I come to a stop after running at highway speed. It has never stalled but acts like it will. In a few seconds it recovers to normal (1200 rpm) idle speed.

What do you think causes this? Vacuum leak? Fuel filter? ??

That will definitely cause a drop in your idle. Try spraying carb cleaner around your vaccum hoses to see if your idle jumps back to normal. If that happens, narrow down your leak. Your truck has a few years on it, so it probably wouldn't hurt to start replacing all of your hoses (water, fuel, vaccum) for a little insurance.
