After Sitting For Months And Months And.....

I've been waiting for an oppurtunity to fix my truck, and this weekend or next it should happen, either replacing the headgasket or cracked cylinder head or my 22-RE. Few questions about some other things though. This has been sitting for 8-9 months, and still has the same tank of gas and same oil. I'm gonna have to drain and change the oil (to fix the engine, and just to the overall amount of time its been sitting).

1- Will just changing the oil be enough to clean out all the old contaminated oil, or is there a additive i need to help flush the old oil out?

2- Syphon the 3/4 of a tank of gas or is there a additive i can add to that so that it can be used?

3- there is a crack on the header when the pipe begins to flow into the exhaust. Can that be welded for now until I can replace it with a new header or complete exhaust system (junk yard)or am i asking for trouble?

Thanks for all your advice. I just got it towed back home today, and it makes me feel better to know that i can look out my window and see my truck as oppose to having it in another town.

truck after months

Before you start the engine you wanna make sure that the cylinders are prelubricated. This means that you gotta put some oil in the cylinders before you start it since its been sitting for months. Pull the spark plugs out and put about 3 squirts of oil in the cylinders and if you dont have a oil canister then put about 3 cap fulls of 10w30. it will save the ware on the cylinder giving you longer engine life. The next time you decide to store a car or truck for several months, add some stabilizer to the fuel tank so that corrosion doesnt happen to the carb or fuel line.
