anything is possible. are they both EFI or carbed? you will want to either swap if they are both the same or go from carb to EFI, but only to EFI with all the parts(ecu, plumbing, fuel pump)

they are both EFI, and i can definitely get everything i need. the question is, will it fit? is it a straight swap? do i need an 85 tranny? or can use the 98?

I don't know the details of the motors but...if they are both 22re than I don't see a problem. You could just swap motor and tranny and have a new drivetrain.everything should bolt up the same. Sorry there isnt much help here.

im guessing that you got a 2.7 (3rz-fe) out of a tacoma, this swap has a few problems. first, the big one, the front driveline on the '85 is on the passengers side, the tacoma's is on the drivers side, i dont think that the bellhousings are the same, so you would have to use the '98 tranny/t-case, second, the intake and exhaust manifolds are on different sides, the '85 has intake on pass. side, exhaust on drivers side, tacomas have intake on drivers side exhaust on pass. side. Hope this helps

you'd have to make sure that every sensor that connects up to your ecu is present, o2's, gas tank pressure, there's so many, you'll probably have a check engine light

yeah, there are tons. obviously wiring would be the worst thing about it but if i take my time and carry the entire harness from the donor truck over, with relevant components, it could (should?) work. that is, unless, there is something mechanical that simply won't allow it.

if you have a service manual, you could find the resistances needed to trick some of the sensors
