David,
Maybe, but I doubt it. If that is the case, then both the dealer
and the woman I spoke to continually sent me the wrong bags. I had to make a case for Airlift to try and figure out what was wrong.
The first time my bags failed, I chalked it up to a defective bag. The second time, they failed three months after installation. Not likely to be a defective bag. At this point, I
implored Airlift to help me find a solution. I really wanted the springs to work. They told me they would try another bag from another application that was slightly smaller in diameter so that it wasn't as tightly compressed in the coils. I also had the installer look at the steel springs to see if a welding bump was causing an abnormal abrasion. All was smooth.
It was clear to the customer disservice person that they were attempting to solve the problem by using an unorthodox approach. Airlift was the one that suggested using a thinner bag. Additionally, the model year of my 4Runner was communicated numerous times.
As I mentioned before, I feel that I had to beta test their product for my application. I wasn't happy about the lack of compensation for what I considered to be unusual failures that were unrelated to age or installation problems. Witness the fact that, once they gave me the thinner bags, all of my problems ceased. They had not had any failures on the 4Runner at that point, but I'll bet money that they experienced them later.
If you go with them, I hope it all works out!
