Cool Changing Odometer and Instrument Color

I have a 2001 Rav 4 and I was wondering if there was a way to change the color of the odometers and the instruments from the orange color that it comes in to a different color? I’m redoing the interior of my Rav4 and was wondering if the color of the odometers and the instruments can be changed to go with the new interior look (regardless of what color).

Any advise would be most appreciated.

MUCHAS GRACIAS!

I'm not familiar with the construction of the instrument cluster in your particular vehicle, so I'll suggest a couple things.

Remove the instrument cluster and see where the color comes from... it may either be a colored filter behind the gauges, or little, colored, rubber things over the instrument lights. If it's the former, you'll need to get a colored transparency in the color you desire. If it's the latter, you can either get a different color of those rubber things (can't think of what they're called), they're located in the lighting/accessories aisle at places like Autozone or Advance. You could also look for colored bulbs, though people have had varying degrees of success with those.

Most likekly you've got the little rubber condom-looking things on your bulbs. By far that's the easiest route, all things considered.

Thanks for the help, justin22, but I think brink understood what I was looking for. I'm not looking to put something over the gauges but I'm looking for a way to change the color of the actual Bulb or the source that gives off the orange color. I appreciate the help.

Brink, I think you're right about the rubber material over the bulb. I'm going to open the interior of my Rav4 and let you know what I find.

Thanks for the help!

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!
