22re

I think I blew the piston rings on my 22re. I am looking to get a replacement 22re so I can take out the orig one to rebuild it. Where i am, 22re's are extremly hard to find. I am really looking for the block and the head, intake and exhaust. I can use rest of parts from my truck. Any help would be appreciated.

if you do a search, you should be able to find plenty of info since that is a very common engine.

If you get all the parts you should be able to pull it down for a re-ring job in a weekend. Having a spare engine is overkill.

Make sure you get a factory head gasket and brand new head bolts, or be ready to repeat the job....

I just went through this......If the wreckers are charging too much or you can't get one at all...(strangely the motor is popular but hard to get sometimes) try buying an old celica or an old 2wd truck. The celica pre 86 has a 22re or even 22r (earlier) and can usually be found for cheap... Usually it's cheaper to buy the entire car than just to buy an engine. Then you can part the bitch out and get back some of your $$$$.... I bought a 85 celica for 400$ CDN and just sold the rest of it for 300$ (after taking the 22re out)....all the wreckers wanted 1400$ for a motor I couldn't even hear running..
