Question Alignment?

I just bought a 98 4runner and took it in for an aligment. They told me I needed to replace the right inner tie-rod. I know alot of places are full of crap, so I went for a second opinion. Same diagnosis. It's a dealer only part, so I bought the part and was wondering how hard this is to change and will I need any special pullers to remove it?

Why? Is it bent?

Are they talking about the tie rod itself, or the ball joint on the end of the tie rod (called a tie rod end)?

As for pulling it, you can rent a TRE puller (sometimes called a pickle fork) from Auto Zone. Be careful with those as they might ruin the boot around the end that you are pulling.
