2003 Prerunner leaks..

Hi,
Bought this 2003 prerunner used(had 7,400 miles). I've owned it for about 3.5 months, and although it has sat outside on numerous rainy days, I don't recall having a week as rainy as the one we've just experienced this week. We've had 3 days of slow, steady rain, and this is the first time I've noticed the carpet being wet. The carpet on the driver's side was drenched around the seatbelt mount on the floor(this is actually located in the extended cab portion). There was no water noticeable around the windows, doors, etc. on the inside of the truck.

I'm very discouraged by this, because eventhough the truck is still under warranty, I've never heard many people have much luck in getting "leaks" found and fixed. I don't know if I should take my loss and trade the truck in, or go back and forth trying to get it repaired...

Thanks in advance if you can help...
Karen

You're still under factory warrenty with that truck, take it back and get it fixed.

I had the same problem with my '01 S10 bought new. The passenger side would flood when it rained. Took it in and they put in new weather stripping no problem. Never had another problem with water(I had numerous others though ).

Hi, and thanks for the reply.

I want the leak to be repaired, and I know the truck is still under warranty, but I have such little faith in the mechanics knowing how to fix it. I figure they'll run water on it, and when it doesn't duplicate, they'll simply say they can't duplicate the problem, and leave it at that. But, I guess I'll give them a shot at it.....

Tell them to just fix it. The Chevy dealer I went to didn't test the problem at all, they just replaced the weather stripping on the spot.

If they really want to duplicate it, they will need to keep it till it rains hard and that could take forever.

Hopefully you get it all worked out
