What You Do When The Hood Release Cable Breaks.....
For those who have lost sleep over this serious problem, on my 1990 4wd P/U I had to drop the front bumper/splash pan. This comes off as a whole unit with six bolts. Then you can reach up and pop the clips that hold the grill in place (after removing the sidemarker lenses). The unbolt the latch from the support and release the pawl from the hood. I made an "emergency" release out of baling wire and ran it down the drivers side of the radiator support before putting everything back together. Now I hope we can all rest easier!
