Question Oil Pressure guage

Can some help me. I have an 03 Sequoia with 16k miles on it. The oil pressure guage goes up and down along with the rpm. Is this normal? Shouldn't the oil pressure be constant in the middle of the gauge? I never notice this before. Thanks in Advance. Ant

Your oil pressure should be in the normal band at all times, but does go up and down with rpm. That is normal.

I took my mom's sequoia in to the dealer for the same thing and they said it was a bad sensor, so they fixed it for free.

Did yours go all the way to zero? If so, that is a bad oil sending unit. That is what they replaced.

It would go up and down all the way with accelaration and braking.

I'd be more worried if the pressure stayed constant. As engine speeds increase so will oil flow. The clearance space for the oil to flow remains the same. If you try to cram more oil through the same space, pressure should naturally go up. If it doesn't, it might imply that clearances are greater than they should be.
