shock need help

I have a 1999 toyota trd lmtd edition. My shocks sucks pretty bad, when I hit a SMALL bump it feels like I ran over dog. ..but I didn't. I only have 40,000 miles on my truck since I don't drive it that much nor go off-roading. I rides rough and bad. Any suggestions what shocks to get?? I was looking at the sensatrac or kyb?? they're pretty affordable. any help will work.

Are these gas charged shocks??

This might be a problem with your springs.

It's a truck, it's supposed to be like that...especially with the TRD Off Road package.

Jeremy H,
I don't know if they're gas powered shocks. They're the ones that came with the truck when I bought them. Its the TRD package and they told me they're bilstein shocks.

I took my truck to a dirt road where there were uneven surfaces. My truck was rocking side to side as if there were no springs or shocks. I thought I was going to tip over. I took it to the dealer and told them the problem. They looked at my shocks and told me no oil was coming out of them so, it didn't leak or bust. They told me its just fine.

After talking to those guys for at least an hour, I gave up. The ride s*cks bad. So, any of your expertise would be appreciated.

Go to another dealership and test drive a truck that is the same as yours.....see if it drives the same. If so, then that is just the suspension.

So it takes a long time to stop bouncing after you hit a bump? If so, then yeah it sounds like you need new shocks. I thought you meant the ride is really stiff. The TRD shocks for the regular cab and extra cab are bilsteins, although I've heard they're not as good as the aftermarket bilsteins. The double cab TRD comes with tokico shocks.

If you're going to lift it like you said in the other thread, then go for some OME shocks and springs. They will take care of the undamped oscillations, but be aware the ride will be stiffer.

the stock bilsteins aren't great....upgrade to aftermarket bilsteins...if you're lifting it, get the 5100's in the rear....I don't know what to recommend for the front since i got coilovers
