If it isn't one thing, its another. When I brake from highway speed the front wheels will wobble from side to side until I get down to below 30 MPH or so. I had the wheels balanced and front alignment done not too long ago so I don't think its that. Can anyone offer up a solution?

If the rotors are warped then wouldn't it wobble at any speed? It has been a while (at least 75,000 miles) since I had to have new rotors put on but I would imagine a warped one would make it wobble at all speeds. But then again, what do I know.

i have this happening to my aunt's 97 camry now... i was going about 140km on the hwy and trying to slow down for the ramp... all i heard was a loud "Wwwoooo" sound from the wheels and kinda the wobble that u'r talking about i guess... if u don't mind the noise that it creates, then keep driving it... wouldn't hurt... coz i have the same problem on my old tercel, and my 2000 civic hatchback which i sold recently... if u do mind then just get the rotors machined at the shop... it'll take care of the problem instandly.

sounds like warped rotors (prolly from heat), should only shake when you brake, replace them rather than turn them, there not that expensive anymore, change pads too if there bad when you got them off, they are also cheap, about 1/2 hour per side, cake job if your even slightly mechanically inclined. Good luck, and don't forget to torque lugnuts! (learned this from experience)

I was just thinking about doing that. Do you have the specs or part numbers I need to order the rotors and pads? If I'm able to replace them on my Eclipse, I think I should be able to do it on my truck, too. Also, I don't have a shop manual so how much should I torque the lugnuts? I do have a torque wrench. Thanks a bunch in advance.

I don't have the part numbers, however you wanna get them at your local autoparts store, (they can look them up), because shipping would prolly be more than actual parts, that is if your goin stock, (if you want slotted, drilled Brembos that's another story) Torque the lugs to about 100 ft/lbs and you should be safe, that's what my avalon with a V6 calls for, and so did my 4 runner. Let me know how it turns out, and if that fixed the problem.

I'll tackle this when the weather warms up a bit. Will provide results when completed. Thanks.

I went ahead and looked up your truck and the rotors should be under $20 apiece and pads should be about $15 and those are conservative estimates (remember you'll need 2 rotors and one set of pads). If they have 2 quailtys of pads, I'd opt for the more expensive (as long as there not outrageous as they tend to sqeeek less) You got lucky it's a cheap fix. If you look into turning the rotors you'll see there more expensive than buying new.

Great! So it is something I can pick up at my local Pep Boys for around that price?
