cheap suspension lift?

These days, im hearing a lot of people talk about using suspension components from other, older vehicles as a way to make a cheap lift kit. I am im the market for a lift kit, but dont spend a great deal of time offroad, so I dont want to drop a great large sum of money on an actual suspension lift. Body lift and a shackle and coil spacer would get me my desired lift, but I dont want to sacrifice performance. That is why this idea of using older components sounds like a good option for me. My question is does anyone know what make/model/year vehicle would have the parts that i am looking for (coil spring and leaf spring) and would give me a decent amount of lift?

What year is your truck? Also, how cheap are you looking at?

You can get a nice strut spacer and an add a leaf and/or a block for about $150 or so which will give you about 2-3" of lift...

Ive got a 98 Tacoma Ex-cab V6 4x4. I am very familiar with the coil spacer and block/add-a-leaf, such as the Revtek and Daystar kits, but both concern me because I have heard that add-a-leafs will wear out fairly quickly, and with blocks comes axle wrap. Chances are I will go with a similar set up, but I just want to find the best option.

I ran up to 4" blocks in a couple of trucks and I never had any probs at all. What kind of wheeling are you planning on doing?

Unless you're doing some serious off roading, I wouldn't really worry to much about running a block, especially a small one.

I've also ran add a leafs in my previous Tahoe and now in my Tacoma and besides the initial settling of the add a leaf which is about 1/2 inch or so in the first couple of weeks (they are usually about that much over what they're rated lift is anyhow), I never experienced any sag with over 50k miles.

I believe these will be the most inexpensive way to go for the most amount of lift...
