Knocking from motor 22re

After running my truck hard, i usually get an irregular knocking. I have done valve adjustments and they don't seem to help. I am thinking something to do with my fuel system, either injectors or fuel pump. It only happens after i run hard and stop. It usually only lasts until i take off again. Also i have heard that the timing chain makes some noise. Could this be it? Help would be appreciated.

KNOKING

I WILL RUN THE GAS TANK DOWN TO EMPTY ADD A BOTTLE OF FUEL CLEANER ( STP) AND FILL UP THE TANK WITH HIGH TEST GAS
93 OR HIGHER OCTAIN , ALSO PUT IN GTX 10W-30 MOTOR OIL FROM THE BOTTLES TO MAKE SURE IT IS THE REAL BRAND NOT FROM THE OIL AND LUBE JOINTS TANKS ( GOD KNOWS WHAT KIND OF RECYCLED OIL THEY USE ) . GOOD LUCK

i have used fuel injector cleaner, and i am always running 91 octane. I have cam work done and performance pistons. I doubled up the valve springs to rev a little higher. I just wonder if the injectors were dirty and when i started revving higher, it could have damaged them. Thanks for your input.

Sounds like it could be a "rod!" Unless the noise went away, I would seriously look into replacing your rods and bearings. I am having the same trouble. Mine just started last week and I am going to just rebuid it to stock specs. I am getting another 22RE and tranny and going to rebuild to racing specs (400-500hp). But for now the stock is going to be rebuilt.

i doubt it could be the bearings and rods because i just built the motor not more than 15,000 miles ago. I am looking into it though because it blew a head gasket and i am in the process of tearing it down and rebuilding it again. Thanks.

How did you blow your head gasket after only 15k? That isn't a good thing. Sorry to hear that!
