Tires to buy

I have a 99 Tacoma that currently has stock tires on it and I am getting ready to purchase some new tires and make a few modifications since I know have a fulltime job and can afford things. I was at the tire shop the other day and the guy told me about these tires called Pro Competition (Procomp is written on the side of the tire.) I was wondering if anyone had heard about these tires or runs these tires and what they think. Most of my driving will be highway, but I will be living in an area that gets a good amount of snow. But some offroad adventures will take place. Im open for input. Im deciding between 31x10.50 or 265x75.

ProComp makes a pretty good offroad tire and they will work just fine on the pavement as well. You should also check out the BFG Mud Terrains. I have these tires in a 33". 90% of my driving is on pavement but I know that if I go offroad these tires will go through just about anything. They are suprisingly quiet on the roads as well. It will pretty much come down to what "look" you are trying to get on your truck. The mud terrains look more "offroad", and the all terrains look a little more "street." Are you putting a lift on the truck?

I just got the 33x12.5x15 Pro Comp's Mud Terrains on my '86 4runner with a 4" Pro Comp Explorer lift. The tires look great and are very smooth on the pavement. It looks like a totally different truck.

My wife has a 2001 Sequoia, which came with a set of awful Dunlop Grandtreks. They were near bald at 25,000. The vehicle was aligned and she is a 100% on road gentle driver. After doing some research, we just installed a set of Bridgestone Dueler H/Ls. So far, we are very happy with them -- with quiet and crisp response, they feel much, much better than the Dunlops ever did. Of course, if you do go off road, I'd recommend one of the dueler series with more aggressive treads. The H/Ls are pretty much designed for pure on road (or perhaps no-mud off road, and what fun would that be...).

since u live in an area w/ snow, I'd suggest an all-terrain...mud tires are great, especially the BFG's, but generally they suck in snow...
