91 electrical issues...
First the details: 1991 Toy 2wd X-cab, 4cyl, 5sp, 131,000miles
I've had problems with it running fine one day, then not the next,
regardless of the weather. So far I've replaced plugs, wires, cap,
rotor, fuel filter, ignitor/coil, and most recently the distributor.
Diagnostic code pointed to the ignitor. Now it appears that a related
(or unrelated) electrical issue has cropped up, first noticed by the
battery discharging overnite. I charged the battery, starts up, then
I noticed no dash, parking or tail lights. Look under dash, left side kick panel fuse box to check fuses, and notice that if I wiggle the 15a tail fuse, the lights come on. If I wiggle the 10a engine fuse, the engine starts to stall. I disassembled the fuse block (Junction Block #1) and there's not a whole lot to it that looks like it could go bad. I read recently that when the taillight relays (90987-01003) go bad, funky things can happen, can anyone confirm/deny this? Any other possible thing to look for? Possibly a short somewhere? Any easy way to check for shorts if that may be what it is?
Someone had suggested the physical part of the fuse box may not be making good contact with the fuses, which explains the wiggling part...but would that explain the battery drain issue?
Thanks!
