A/C probs!! CAn anyone help??

I just tested the A/C for the first time today on my 92 L/C. All that blew was hot air and i know there is a leak somewhere but when I pushed the "AC" button, it didnt illuminate. Could that be a result from there being no freon?? AS in if there is light, there is freon, and no light NO freon??

My 91 MR2 just ran out of freon and blows hot air. The "AC" button light is still illuminated but no freon.??? Could the light be busted for ly L/C

I doubt that the light is directly related to the amount of freon. I'd first check to make sure that switch is working properly...make sure all of the cennections are still good.

If you can get that to work properly and the ac still doesnt blow cold, then head to a parts store and get a freon kit....should be $12 or so and take you just a few minutes to setup.

I just tested my A/C system today and the compressor works fine but no cold air. I can see the RPM's go up as I press the A/C button on. About buying freon kits at lets say pepboys... I cannot find any R-12 freon. They are so rare nowadays. All I can find are R134a refrigerant bottles. But since my system has no more R-12 freon, do you think I can put R-134a freon??

I believe once you bleed the old freon out, you will be fine putting in the r134a......this should help:
