01' Prerunner automatic shifting?

I just bought a 2001 prerunner v6 stepside with 24,000miles, and other than looking and driving like a brand new truck,
there is a little thump,( maybe the tranny downshifting)
that you can barely notice whenever the car completely stops.
It doesnt do it in nuetral so im just wondering if other tacomas do that too?

is it when your braking coming to a stop or right when u stop. if its as u slow down from say 30 it'll downshift and give a thump. u would see the tach hesitate for a second as u slow down to comfirm that otherwise it could be one of many things

It doesnt ever do the little thump, except either right when its completely stopped or if it doesnt do it then, it might do it after i let of the brake and give it gas.
Would toyota fix it, or is it not a big enough deal?

this sound like one of those thing I'd have to acually be in the vehical to even begin to answer
some thoughts

check the tranny fluid if low it can thump as it catches itself
also toyota can reset shift intesity if its to harsh it can thump in and out of nutural(most dealers will have no idea how to do this)

check the propeller shaft(driveshaft). tight and lubed

worn shocks can pop at odd times/ check the rear springs for cracks

doesn't sounds like a steering problem but can tug on the tie rods between the steering rack and the wheel. souldn't move

could be backlash in the rear axle.

check your lug nut on all 4 wheels. I mean tug on every bolt

no clutch so that ain't it

not 4wd so no front drive train

warped rotors could do this there would be a slight wobble in the steering wheel as u stop though

let us know

Thanks a lot.
Ill probably fill out that change of ownership card so I can get warranty coverage and take it in to a dealer.

I think the tranny shifting is probably what needs to be adjusted.
If it doesnt do it in neutral ever, I cant see it being the rotors or shocks.

So yours never made a little thump either right a total complete stop, or if not then sometimes right when i accelerate.
