you don't have to do anything if you don't want to....however if you keep your stock gearing, you'll notice a loss in power and mileage....if you got the v-6, you'll probably want to regear to 4.88...i'm not sure about a 4-cyl

You will definitely want to regear. Otherwise you will have no power whatsoever from takeoff or on the highway. And it will put a lot more stress on your entire drivetrain (mostly tranny). You can do what you want, but I HIGHLY suggest a regear for tires that big. Post some pics if/when you get everything done cause I'm sure it'll look sweet!

If you do not regear your truck with 35's...YOU WILL BE ABSOLUTLEY MISERABLE!

If you don't believe me, you need to believe the engineers that originally designed your pickup. The Federal Gov't is all over ALL manufacturers to increase gas mileage. If they felt they could have gotten away with a lower-numerical gear (same as a your present gears with 35" tires) ...they would have!

I bought my old-ass 1984 in1994 with 32" tires, and the experience was hateful. Third gear took foreeeeeeeeeeeever to climb out of. A later set of 30" tires was 2" shorter, and the driving experience was much improved. After that set wore out, I went with a 28" tall tire. What a revelation!!! The tranny could now shift where it was designed to run!!! Smaller engines found in Toyota trucks need to matched to the gearing ratio that engineers wisely chose. A taller tire requires a gear change.
