I think it depends on how far you want to lower it. If your just going with a few inches, just to get it down around the tires, lowered springs work well. If you want to slam the truck, you should probably go with spindles. How far are you lowering it. I lowered my '82 Toyota but I have torsion bars up front and just put lowering blocks in the rear.

Try looking around and asking on Custom Tacos . There are a bunch of very knowledgeable folks over there that will be more than happy to help you out.

YOu can just turn the Torsion bar bolt out a few turns, just make sure you measure the front height before and after so that you 'll know how much you've drop the truck. You can lower it this way up to a max of 1-1 1/2" anything more than this you'll need to change the spindle or control arm. depends on w/c one you prefer or how much you'll wanna spend. The back end just buy a set of Lowering Blocks and U-bolts.
Best setting would be.
Front 1 1/2" to 2" rears.
Front 2" to 3" rears.
To add for better handling install a Hi Performance front and rear Sway Bars. And go for a +2 or +3 on your wheels(16"-17") w/ a 50 series or 40 series tires. You can go more like(18"-19") its just that the ride will be a little harsh.
