I don't think higher octane gas will have any affect. Was this a stock manifold or aftermarket? I would check all vacuum hoses for leaks and make sure they are all connected correctly. Another possibility is a leaking manifold gasket or improperly torque on the manifold bolts, tho I would expect that to cause a lean mixture.

Not that kind of an intake!! I replace the stock airbox and put and adpater on the MAF sensor so that i could put a cone filter on there, now i think there is something goin on with the sensor because the fuel mixture seems to be off, it is using a lot of gas and i am getting really horrible mileage, i have disconnected the sensor and the battery and tried to reset the sensor but that hasn't helped any!!! Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this????

There may be oil from the new cone filter that has accumulated on the MAF. I would suggest getting a good electronics contact cleaner and spraying on until it's clean then try reinstalling. Seeing as how you pulled the fuse, it may take several miles to see if it worked. If that doesn't do the trick, you may want to replace the MAF ($).
Just a few suggestions for ya, hope they help.
