Angry Anger toward the fuel filter...

Hi Everyone..

First post here, but I've had a toyota since I was 16, and now im 19. I first had an 88 corrolla, but I now have a 2000 Tacoma with the 2.4L in it. Went today to change out my fuel filter on my tacoma.... Popped the hood and low and behold.. some japanesse engineer decided it would be a wonderful idea to cram that little sucker underneath the air intake plenum in the most god awful position.... I spent about 3 hours outside attempting to take it off and I finally gave up with no luck. I tried both going in through the top of the engine, and even through the side through the wheel compartment. neither worked. anyone know how to get it out???????????? This about the only thing I can truly say I hate about my toyota's, the difficulty of getting out the most simple components. Does anyone know if the newer tacoma's and tundra's have the same problem? if so, I will not be buying another toyota. I love mine to death, has the best engine reliability I have ever seen. But I will not buy another one if the rest are just as hard to work on. I'll go to ford or dodge where their a little eaiser to get to....

Jeff

Any particular reason you're replacing the fuel filter? You shouldn't have to do it for a 4 year old truck, in fact it's considered not necessary unless you're having problems.

I did one one time for a customer. You can get the line from the front of it by going through the top. The top bolt for the bracket can also be gotten from the top. The back line (towards the firewall) and the bottom bolt you have to get from the LF wheel well. Took me about a half hour with long extensions, swivels, and a ratcheting box end wrench.
