Question just wanted to say hi and a question help lowering

yeap HI...anyway just got my 86 pickup like 3 weeks ago...
havent done anything extream yet and I do mean yet. anyway been looking for this truck for like 1.5 years now and finaly found what I wanted exactly even down to low miles and low price...the guy I bought it off of had a viper, and a corvette and a number of other cars and was just sitting there. since 97 the think has had only 10 miles put on it... ...anyway I just had a question so far lowering this thing has been a bitch...the front was no prob, all I did was adjust the torsion bars and droped the front, ok no big deal now the back....omg that was a 2 week ordeal...k so I buy some blocks 3 inch right and put them in then go to drive it and get this horable sound squick grind ext ext. so the pinion angle is off great so I put the rear to stock and have it raked for a good week and get some angled block to hopefully solve the problem well I put them in and nope same thing im so mad right now...oh well I then called a few diff buddies and asked opinons( all of the ones I asked are experianced in lowered/bagged trucks) sooooo one of my buddies comes over and suggests I take the driveline to get it shortained...I was like wtf I have never heard of anyone with a toyota p/u having to do this to do a cheap or any lowering job or anyone else for that matter...anyone have any ideas cuz as it sits its 2 in the morning and im typing and my trucks outside with the driveshaft out and in my other truck to take it down in the morning to get it shortend...I need advise fast...please.

I donno what kinna problem your having, Since most lowering blocks would just bolt on with no problem. Just wanna know if your doing it right, cuz I've seen a few that had install the blocks the wrong way. I lower my friends 86 p/u, my brothers 88 and mine w/c is a 93 with no problem. And you don't have to shorten the drive shaft either. Been working on Toyota's since 74 and Lowering cars since 76 when most of you are born yet. OK, Just make sure your U bolt's have same diameter like the stockers but longer. And the blocks are underneath the differential sandwich between the leaf springs. Make sure you torque them properly. After you've driven you truck about 20 miles around town, re-check to U-bolts torque. Hope that helps.

I just finished lowering my 1982 Toyota 2wd. I only put in a 2" block, and adjusted the torsions, but I didn't have any problems what so ever. Except the u-bolts that came with my bell tech kit were WAY too big diameter wise to fit my rear end...but other than that no problems, I've lowered both of my trucks quite a bit and have never had any driveline or pinion angle problems. My other trucks a 77GMC 2wd.

I have a 86 4runner that I lifted and had that noise. Added a 2 degree shim to change the pinion angle. No help. Removed shim and reversed blocks at rear leafs (made angle more severe) and noise was gone?! Sometimes you have to just play with the pinion angle to see what works.
