1974 Hi-lux pickup truck

I Have a 1974 Toyota Hilux pickup (good for me). I was wonderin what sort info you guys have on the thing. What parts are interchangable with newer Toyotas and what not. Thanks.

Cool, I had one of those too. 18R engine I think? I dunno if anything is interchangeable, but I would guess that the 20R or maybe even the 22R has a chance of fitting in there? I could be wrong though...

Do you guys know if a 5speed from a differant Toyo will fit in my pick up? If so what car does it come out of, and do i need a differant drive shaft? Thanks.

I haven't had it in years. BTW, if you are swapping in a tranny too, then it's a lot easier, just motor mounts and tranny mounts to deal with really. I'll bet you could score a 22R and 5 speed from a wreckers pretty cheap. Then it's just fitting a driveshaft up and some basic wiring, fuel lines, and exhaust.

So ya think a 22r 5 speed will fit on my little 18? The only tiss I have with the truck is it needs paint, tie rods and a freeway gear. other than that for a 30 year old truck that has been sitting for 6 years she is doing better than I hoped for.
