Question Engine swap ?

Hi,
I'm new to this site, I have a question about engine swap.
My friend have a 83 celica gt engine 22re automatic, can i swap this into my 87 toyota pickup with 22r carburated engine 5 speed manual, is this possible..

yeah you could but keep you 5spd and you'll need the harness from the celica or if you want you can change the intake manifold over

if you have a complete car it's not that hard but take your time and it should go smoothly but if you just wanted a bigger motor it would be better to just take the motor and use your old manifold and car...i've seen intake manifolds that can use 4bbl carbs on it or you can get abbl weber carb adapter

it's not hard just takes time. remove the engine harness from the carb motor then remove the harness from the efi motor and put it in the truck it just takes time that's all

I believe efi engines require a different fuel pump, which is usually in the fuel tank. Maybe fuel filter and some line changes, too. You might check into that before you start. good luck. Sounds like a lot of fun (and good experience).

This is going to a long slow process , maybe i just use the carb instead lot more easier.
