93 4 cylinder 4x4 loss of power!!! help!

I just bought a 93 4x4 and there is a huge loss of power. I already changed the cap, rotor, plugs, air filter, feul filter. It got a little bit better but still very weak. It takes forever to hit 55. The tires are stock and the engine has 153,000 miles on it. I suspect it may be distributor or feul pump or timing. Anyone have any suggestions ?

Might wanna check the fuel pump and maybe clean out your throttle body (if you have one).

Well, I paid $90.00 to have a computer diagnostic test and they found the timing to be in specs and the ignition checked out just fine and they found no errors according to the computer. They think maybe it might be a bad catalytic converter thats clogged. So I went to an exhaust specialist and they didnt think it was that but i went with my gut feeling and took out the cat and put a straight pipe instead and while i was there I had a flowmaster muffler and pipe instatlled. All totaled to $380.00 I drove off and still the same thing. A loss of power. So now I dropped it off to have the feul system tested. I sure hope they can find the problem.

could be a blown head gasket , bad piston rings, scratches in the chamber ... mainly anything that would cause a lost in compression

Well I had the feul pump tested and it was fine. I finnally figured it out. I have been hearing this loud clicking noise from the engine and it turned out to be the timing chain. It has streached and has cause the timing to be off by an eight of and inch. Enough to cause loss of power and acceleration. since it is a 4x4 the engine will have to come out in order to change the chain. That will cost me 1,300. OUCH!!!! At least i figured it out and I can finnally enjoy my truck!!!!! WOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
