Blown Head Gasket I NEED HELP!!!

Ok Here is the deal guys,
When i try starting my truck it turns over really fast so i was told that it was my head gasket because my truck has over heated twice. SOO now i need some quick advice of the order to take apart my truck to fix it i have a good idea but any help will help and pictures would be good if you had those too. Thanks guys and gals, Anything will help.

buy a haynes manual they have a step by step on how to take he head off and and back on so your more likley not to miss anything. does it actualy start? and how does that flowmaster sound on it?

check your oil. good sign to see if it is your head gasket and not someone trying to rip you off is if your oil looks like chocolate milk. trust me, been there, done that, results.........got a new engine!

I have had two headgaskets fail on my Toyota 22r, and neither time did the oil and water ever mix (the leaks happened between two adjacent cylinders rather than into a water or oil passage)!

You need to get down to basics:
A good repair manual.
A compression check!!!!!!<<most important!!
A check of the crankcase as stated above.

As far as your truck "turning over really fast"...you may have a broken timing chain. The engine is simply not being slowed by the drag of the valvetrain and engine compression. Take of the distributor cap and see if it moves if the engine is cranked. If not, You've gotta broken chain. The bad news is that if is a broken chain, you may also have bent valves (you did not state your engine size).

If I may add my own personal experience...I had a clogged radiator that made my headgasket go away. You may be dealing with two problem areas not just one. please keep us posted!
