I think the front plate on OEM toyota radios are not supposed to come off...shouldn't the whole thing come out?

This is for a totally different product, but it shows you the procedure you're looking for. Or download the PDF by clicking here and it will tell you how to disconnect the center console plate.

Hope this helps

takin off the radio thing

To get the radio plastic plate off, you must take nearly the whole lower dash out. Start with the the peice underneath the steering wheel and take that loose.. there are some wires connected to it so just let it hang. Next take off the middle parts... You may have to go on the other side and take off the glove box housing. I just installed a Kenwood head unit in my truck... i believe thats how it goes.

I had to take my dash off to get to that piece. There are clips holding it in and you have to be careful that you don't break them. Be gentle, especially if it's her first time

In order to get the radio trim off, you just need to start at one corner and pop the clips out as you go along...you should not have to remove anything to take it off to the point where you remove the radio.
