stuck gas pedal

posted this on another site, just curious to know what your ideas were. my gas pedal seems to get stuck after sitting for a while, and at times i almost have to kick it to get it moving, then its good to go after that, till i park it for a period of time again. any thoughts or suggestions?

Check out this link to the other site.

My truck had the problem a couple of months ago. When I opened the hood and inspected, I noticed that one of my cables was having the problem that midiwall explained in that link. One of the cables hooking around my throttle cable wasn't going into its jacket. I tried my best to spray some WD-40 down that cable into the sleeve. Don't know if that did it but the problem disappeared shortly after and hasn't came back yet.

Temporary way of going around the problem:
Unstick the pedal first before starting the engine.

My '93 does this too. The intake chamber needs cleaning. The flapper inside sticks. I put lots of miles on my truck so I have to clean it once or twice a year. Just remove the air intake hose and use carb cleaner and an old tooth brush to clean it.

That's what I would guess... Sticky throttle.

another thing you can try instead of wd 40 (nnly because it has very little lub in it) is use some white grease in an arisol can...

After looking over my truck earlier, I noticed that the cable I mentioned in my post above had a little section that had been scorched by my headers. This should be the reason why that cable had been acting up. The insulation that had been touching my headers is all gone.
