Who's got thier toyota pickups jacked-up?

I'm interested in them all, but mainly 80's or early 90's. I'd like to know how much lift, what size tires, etc.... but mainly GAS MILEAGE! I'm really interested in buyin' a 4x4 and liftin' it si I would apreciate the info! thanks yall!

6" total lift, 36x12.50 TSL's don't care about mileage, its a wheeling rig

i've got a 94 with 4" lift, 33x12.50's with the 22re and it gets about 16-18 mpg

My Personal experiences go as follows

85 4x4 Reg cab Bought it with 3"suspension and 3" body on 35"
had a gear ratio of 4.10 milage was about 15-17 a gallon.

Installed 7" springs and 2" shackles and still running 35" on 4.10 gears my gas milage went down to 9 a gallon. I also only had a top speed of about 50 MPH

Installed 4.88 gears with same setup as above gas milage went back to 17 MPG. I now had a top speed of about 106 MPH (got a ticket)

Rolled truck because it was too tall.......................

Lowered truck back to 3" suspension and 3" body on 35" tires with 4.88 gears gas milage went to about 21 MPG

Took the truck apart and now trying to sell peices. The engine was a 22R motor..

88 toyota 4runner with solid front axle has 22RE motor in it with about 6" of lift and 35" tires and 4.88 gears this truck gets between 22-24 MPG last time I was able to check before snapping the speedo cable......

In other words if your going to lift it be reasonable and also regear it.

If you figure I had 9" of suspension 3" of body and another 5" out of tires over stock height it was tall and topheavy. The only reason I walked away was because I installed a roll cage for Safety.. I figured the day would come when I would roll it... and it did...

i got a question obex26 if you installed a lower gear ratio into your truck, how did your top speed double? wouldnt it go down even further? the 4:10 would be a higher top speed than the 4:88 i think

Think wind resistance. The taller the truck the more resistance the truck makes. With a higher gear ratio 4.10 and my tire size and the roof of my truck sitting at 82" or 7' I was under my power bandwith. Basically 5th gear was useless and 4th gear was only at a range of about 50% of its potential. By going to the 4.88 gears it reduces the amount of effort that the engine has to put out to achieve the same effect. It also put me back to a closer spectrum of my power bandwith Another feature to reduce my resistance was the binding I had on my driveshaft from the angle I solved this by adding a cv styled joint to the driveshaft.

Basically answer this question. Which is easier to run holding a brick over your head or to run with it at your waist..

i see, it all makes some sense to me now. i havent dealt with a truck thats 7' tall yet either lol, but its certainly something i wouldnt mind doing

I have an 1982 toy with 4" suspension lift, 33" tires and regeared the axles and am able to get 17-21 m.p.g. Was gutless before the gear swap.

38" ground hawgs

standard 22r... rolled the first one... i think i walked away just cause its a toyota and theyre freakin awesome. but i took off all the parts and put them on a new truck... but just for show this time... my other 4wheeling machine is gonna be built off the old frame

A little info I learned after parting my 85 out after the rollover check the frame between the shock towers and the motor mounts to make sure the frame has not cracked. The rollover caused my frame to literally break open 5 inch gashes on both sides at the same point from the stress.

What's the going rate (part&labor) on a 4.10 to 4.88 re-gearing? I got a '86 4runner, 22re, 4" lift and 33" m/t's. That's what's next on my mod list and x-mas is coming up fast.

I've got an 89 2WD 22R w/ 3" body lift & 3" suspension lift & 32" BFG AT's

Gas mileage is not exceptional (about 20-22mpg) but I don't drive it very much anymore, except for in the desert.
