Towing w/ 4X2 Tocoma

I have a new 2004 Tocoma and want to tow a boat with it. It does not have a towing package. What is the best connection for a 4 pin connector?

I can put a hitch on the bumper, but needed some advice on the best connector/converter to use for a 4 pin that matches my boat trailer.

I would not recommend towing with your bumper. Go get a reciever hitch from UHaul worth the 150 dollars and they give you a lifetime warranty (as long as you own the truck) They will even do the wiring for your trailer for another 20. Think of it like this. Its a new truck do it right and less chance of damage to your vehicle in the long run.

I used the bumper hitch on my T100 with fairly heavy loads on rough roads and eventually broke some welds holding the bumper on. If you avoid heavy loads and stay on good roads, the bumper hitch will probably serve you ok. As for wiring, you can find an aftermarket adapter for around $35 that will plug into your wiring harness. The cheapest source I found was JCWhitney. That is also a good source for a rugged, inexpensive receiver hitch.
